Oil Seals
General information
The oil seal, also known as a shaft seal or oil seal, is a sealing element whose role is to retain liquids (oil, grease) inside rotating mechanisms, even under conditions of high internal pressure. At the same time, it protects the internal environment against impurities from the outside.
Where are oil seals (simerings) used?
-
In automobiles: for sealing the crankshaft, camshaft, drive shafts, gearbox, etc.
-
In agricultural machinery: tractors, combines – in transmission systems.
-
In industry: in pumps, compressors, electric motors, etc.
Structure of a simple oil seal:
-
Outer edge (made of metal or rubber): fits into the housing.
-
Sealing lip (elastic): adheres to the shaft.
-
Helical spring: applies constant pressure on the lip for effective sealing.
